Youngster Neha Dubey shines with two goals


Young opportunistic goal-scorer Neha Dubey produced another impressive performance, scoring two goals to steer India Rush to a 5-0 win against Mumbai Colts in a women’s Pool-A league match of the 41st Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana rink hockey tournament, played at the WCG floodlit courts.

Neha received good support from teammate Sadhna Dubey, Aradhana Jadhav, and Meenakshi Pandey all contributing with a goal each to seal India Rush’s second successive win.

 

In a Pool-B encounter, Sunday Sultans ‘B’ riding on the strong showing from Kansha Singh who notched a fine hat-trick recorded a stunning 4-1 win against UK United. Shivani Sahu netted the fourth goal for the victors while UK United reduced the deficit through Jemimah Rodrigues.

 

Meanwhile, Central Railway and Western Railway comfortably won their respective matches. Kavitha Vidyarthi scored a hat-trick of goals to power Central to a 6-0 win against Sunday Sultans ‘A’ in a Pool-A match. Renuka Yadav, Pratibha Arya, and Anuja Singh added one each to round-off the winning tally.

 

Anupa Barla struck five goals in leading Western to a fluent 7-1 win over Sea View SC in a Pool-B match. Rakhi Prajapati, and Lily Chanu scored the other two goals for Wester, while Sea View pulled one back through Resham Mahadik.

 

In a men’s open encounter, Union Bank of India started with a bang recording a 5-0 win against India Rush Grey. Vinit Shetty, Arjun Gupta, Prince Chaurasiya, Jay Dhanawade, and Ganesh Patel all contributed with one apiece to complete Union Bank’s win.

Veterans Men: Mumbai Raje Orange (Devinder Kumar 4, Meghraj Murthy, Solomon Alexander, Troy D’Mello) beat Kalina Village Boys ‘B’ 2 (Stanford Rodrigues, Felix D’Mello).
