Top order batsman Yash Salunke struck a brilliant attacking century (108 runs off 56 balls; 10 boundaries; five sixes) as Sind Sports Club recorded a comprehensive 114-run win against Shivaji Park Youngsters Sports Club in a lopsided encounter of the MCA President Cup, played at Cricket Club of India here today.
Been put to bat in, Sind Sports Club unleashed an impressive batting display, amassing 230 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The highlight of their innings was the partnership between opener Sujay Thakkar (69 off 37 balls) and Yash, who added 127 runs for the second wicket – an alliance that enabled their side in a position of strength while taking the game away from the opposition.
In reply to the daunting run chase, Shivaji Park Youngsters never really recovered from the loss of two early wickets in the very first over as they capitulated to 116 for 9 against the disciplined Sind Sports Club bowling attack. Left-arm spinner Aditya Dhumal was the wrecker-in-chief with 3 for 17 while Vikashchandra Singh, Puneet Tripathi and Shaikh Yaseen, claimed two wickets apiece.
