Defending champions Western Railway maintained their unbeaten run when they downed Central Railway 13-9 in their concluding tie in the annual 8-Team YMCA Waterpolo League -2019, held At YMCA Swimming Pool, Agripada, last night. Western thus topped the league with 14 points, while Pune’s Deccan Gymkhana with 12 points , were adjudged runners-up and Central, who tied with Reliance ‘B’ with 8 points, earned the third spot on goal-difference.
In the women’s final, MGMO were tied with Deccan Gymkhana at 6-all with fortunes fluctuating in each and every quarters in the regulation period, but MGMO, in the resultant penalty shoot out emerged victors 11-10.
Reliance outfit though beat Police team 9-5 in the men’s section t finish fourth in the eight-team league, did well to win the boys under-17 (10-4) and under-14 (7-3) titles, scoring over MGMO boys in both the age groups.
