Western Railway worked hard to put it across a spirited Central Bank of India by a narrow 1-0 margin in an Elite Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association League 2016-2017, and played at the Cooperage ground.
After a barren first half, Western managed to break the Central Bank resistance when their hard-working medio P.T. Somi found the target in the 69th minute to help his team clinch the win.
In another match, Union Bank of India put up a dogged display to hold fancied and defending champions ONGC to a goalless draw.
Meanwhile, JMJ (Jesus, Mary, Joseph) SC a new club continued with their brilliant winning run of form as they stormed to an emphatic 9-0 win against LIC (Life Insurance Corporation) SC in a Third Division match, at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel.
