The Greater Mumbai Badminton Association (GMBA) has appointed Viplav Kuvale and Riya Arolkar as the Men’s and Women’s captains respectively of the GMBA teams, that will participate in the Yonex Sunrise-Maharashtra State Senior Inter-District Badminton Championships 2022, scheduled to commence at the Khandu Ragnekar Badminton Hall, Dadoji Kondev Stadium, Thane from Sunday, April 3 to Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

The format for this year’s Team championship event is, Men – best of 3 singles and 2 doubles rubbers and Women – 2 singles and 1 doubles rubber.
Viplav’s younger brother Viraj, and 13-year-old Naishaa Bhatoye, the men’s and women’s singles winners of the CCI-GMBA Badminton Championship, last month were automatic selection choices.
The other members of the men’s team include Siddhesh Raut, Nihar Kelkar, Jaidev Menon and Yash Tiwari, while Shivani Herlekar, Anagha Karandikar and Samaia Shah complete the women’s team.
Nigel D’Sa is the head coach of the team, while Abhijeet Kulkarni will accompany the team as the manager.
