Vinil Poojary strikes hat-trick


Mumbai FC Under-19 stood tall as they romped to an emphatic 7-1 victory against Rhema Sports Foundation in a Super Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2016-2017, and played at the Mumbai Football Arena, Shahaji Raje Bhosale Kreeda Sankul-BKLP (Andheri Sports Complex) on Sunday evening. Striker Vinil Poojary scored a hat-trick, while Yogesh Kadam netted a brace of goals and Faiz Khan and Umesh Perambra, both scoring one each to complete the demolition. Davidson Akoma got the lone goal for the losers.

The young and energetic Mumbai FC colts cut to size their senior rivals and asserted their dominance from the start with Kadam striking for their first raid in the very first minute. Later Poojary hit the target twice in quick succession by scoring in the 21st and 23rd minutes before Khan struck the fourth in the 32nd minute. Six minutes later, Poojary once again found the mark to complete his hat-trick and Mumbai FC’s fifth goal.

Rhema managed to reduce the deficit when Akoma scored immediately after switching ends. But the Mumbai youngsters scored two more goals through Perambra in the 52nd minute and Kadam who got his second of the match to finish the scoring tally.
