Hard-hitting Vijay Reddy and Mukesh Gupta were the star performers as MCC (Red) beat MCC (Blue) by five wickets on the second day of the five-team Twister-MCC-Pro40 League-season-3 at the Oval Maidan, here today.
Put into bat first, MCC (Blue) did well to score 145 before they were all out for 145 with Shaban Shaikh top scoring with 50. The bowling honours were shared by Gaurav Shukla (3/36), Mukesh Gupta (2/9) and Abhdulla Shiddique (2/15). Chasing 146 for victory, Skipper Vijay Reddy was at his attacking best as he cracked 40 in no time, while Mukesh Gupta gave him good support with 31 to steer MCC (Red) to five wickets win. Mukesh was adjudged the man of the match for his allround show.
In another tie, played on the adjacent plot, Twisters Sports Club opening their account with a four-wicket win over MCC (Green) in a low scoring tie. On the opening day, Twisters were beaten by Jwala Sports Foundation.
