Vidya Balan , who is known for her love for traditional textiles, yesterday attended a Marathi award function in a Paithani Maharashtrian saree. The actress who has always sported sarees in her public appearances , wanted to wear something that was typical of the Maharashtrian culture and worked out an outfit with designer Gaurang Shah.

Gaurang designed a Paithani saree with real gold zardosi work, the saree is esteemed to be worth 2.5 to 3 lakh. While the actress has sported Nine yard saree before ,this was the first time she wore a traditional Paithani shalu. At the event she was complimented by personalities like Atul Kulkarni, Vaishali Samant and Urmila Matondkar who called her a “Naveen Navari”( New Bride) .
