Powered by Victo Singh’s fine hat-trick, Central Railway steamrolled past a hapless Mumbai Port Trust coasting to a solid 11-1 victory, after leading 4-0 at half-time, in a lop-sided Super Division match of the MHAL League 2017-2018, at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate on Thursday evening. Victo scored in the 35th, 38th and 41st minutes to complete his feat.
Central started at a leisure pace but still enjoyed complete dominance. However, they had to wait till the 16th minute to open the scoring through a lucky goal from Reuben Kedari. Thereafter they scored at regular intervals to sent Mumbai Port Trust crushing to defeat.
The other goals for Central were scored by Narad Bahadur (19th minute), Harmeet Singh (31st minute), Naved Ali Qazi (52nd minute), Vinit Kamble (55th minute), Mohd. Nizamuddin (56th and 60th minute) and Rajendra Pawar (62nd minute).
In the first match of the day, Western Railway charged to a 5-3 win against Maharashtra State Police. The Western outfit scored through a brace of goals from Vinod Kumar Singh (8th and 51st minutes), Osaf-ur-Rehman (17th minute) and Sanklap Raghav (19th minute) both from penalty corners and a field effort from Rajin Kandulna (63rd minute). Maharashtra State Police managed to reduce the margin of defeat with goals from Gaurav Kamble (11th minute), Ayub Pandri (57th minute) and Vinod Manugude (69th minute).
Victo Singh who played the lead role in Central’s big win and Western’s Vinod Kumar who scored two goals won the ‘Man of the Match’ awards in their respective matches and they both received a cash award of Rs 1,000 each.
In the only match on Friday, Mumbai Customs play against Sports Authority of India at 4.00pm.
