Mumbai City’s Vedant Agarwal had to overcome a brave fightback from Dev Hingorany of Mumbai Suburbs before prevailing at 11-7, 11-9, 2-11, 8-11, 11-9 to advance into the cadet boys singles pre-quarterfinals of the YMCA-5th Maharashtra State ranking table Tennis tournament, held at Goregaon Sports Club, here today. Among other closely contested ties, Raigad’s Tushar Khandekar rallied to beat Dhairya Ved, of Mumbai suburbs 10-12, 11-6, 11-2, 11-8.

While in the cadet girls singles, top seeded Sana D’Souza, winner of the cadet girls title at Nashik recently, was pretty impressive while beating Swara Salgaonkar, her Mumbai Suburbs teammate 11-6, 11-4, 11-4. But second seeded Keisha Jhaveri, (Mumbai City) down 0-2, had to fight back to overcome Thane’s Rutuja Chinchansure 7-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-3, 11-9 to enter the last eight.
