Vaibhav,Akshay vault into 2nd round


Vaibhav Waingade of Panvel and Akshay Vasani of Andheri Recreation Club scored contrasting wins in the first round matches of the Khar Gymkhana Open Handicap Snooker Tournament 2018, and played at the Khar Gymkhana Billiards Room.

Playing with solid determination, Waingade (+50 handicap) produced a strong fight back to overcome Karan Shetty of Radio Club (+50) by a 3-2 margin. The Panvel player lost the first two frames but bounced back by winning the next three to seal a 77-118, 58-105, 123-104, 112-69 and 127-103 frames victory.

 

In contrast, Vasani (+55) enjoyed a good roll of the balls and stunned Chembur Gymkhana’s Loukic Pathare (+30) by a clear 3-0 (86-72, 102-54, 92-42) margin.

 

In another one-sided encounter, Avenish Shah (+25) of Mandpeshwar Civic Foundation easily defeated Dombivali cueist Vinay Pethkar (+55) by a convincing 3-0 (99-85, 114-74, 89-71) win to advance to the second round.
