Unseeded Shubhada Patil knocks out third seed Bhavna Doultani


Shubhada Patil upset number three seed Bhavna Doultani 21-13, 20-22, 21-19 and booked spot in the semi-final of the women’s category CCI Yonex Sunrise Maharashtra State Masters Badminton tournament played at the CCI court.

Patil started the match in commanding fashion, taking the first game comfortably at 21-13. Her aggressive gameplay and sharp net control left Doultani struggling to find answers. Doultani, known for her fighting spirit, bounced back in the second game, making a strong comeback to win 22-20, pushing the match into a decider.

The third game turned into a test of nerves as both players fought for every point. Patil maintained her composure in the closing stage, holding off Doultani’s late surge to seal a memorable victory at 21-19, securing a place in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Second seed Manjri Dhok put on a solid performance and cruised past Anjali Lotke 21-11, 21-15, Dhok dominated the first game, using her experience and tactical awareness to control the rallies.

Lotke showed resistance in the second game, trying to shift momentum in her favor, but Dhok’s superior shot selection and movement on the court ensured she remained in control with a convincing win.


In the Mens 40 match,
Mangesh Jadhav dug deep to overcome Ankit Singhal in an exciting three-game match, ultimately prevailing 21-15, 20-22, 21-19.

Jadhav started strong, controlling the first game with aggressive play and precise shot-making. His well-placed smashes and tactical net play put Singhal under pressure, allowing him to take the opening game 21-15. Singhal fought back in the second game, adjusting strategy to counter Jadhav’s attack. The game went down to the wire, with Singhal edging past at 22-20, forcing a decider.

The third game saw  an intense battle, with neither player willing to concede an inch. Jadhav held his nerve in the closing stages, capitalizing on Singhal’s errors under pressure to secure a 21-19 win and book his place in the round of 16.
