Apart from Mumbai Cricket Association’s indoor coaching centre at their Bandra-Kurla complex, which is generally for select few, there is rare indoor private cricket academy, run round the year by well known coach Jwala Singh on a terrace in Santacruz East, a Western Suburbs.
Current Mumbai sensation, opener Prithivi Shaw, who made a terrific impact with his Ranji Trophy debut with a spate of centuries and Mumbai under-19 Yashasvi Jaiswal have been trained at this MCC (Mumbai Cricket Club) indoor academy .
This unique academy with artificial pitch and covered from all sides, is on a terrace. And it provides with a bowling machine, speed gun, video analysts. The academy also has gym facility on the ground floor for physical training and fitness. And the MCC also has been having outdoor coaching academy at nearby Air India Sports Club.
The academy has to its credit many players, who have been part of Mumbai cricket at different levels. Even players from other states to have come often to train under Jwala Singh especially during monsoons. Even ex-India cricketer Naman Oha and youngster like Jay Bista often come for training.
The academy too has visiting coaches like Sri Lankan fast bowler Chaminda Vaas and ex-Mumbai opener Wasim Jaffer to lend their expertise to the trainees.
