Playing with plenty of determination and displaying solid fighting qualities Union Bank of India gallantly fought back to share honours with Bank of Baroda and a evenly contested Elite (Corporate) Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Wednesday.
Bank of Baroda started in rousing fashion and gained ascendancy when striker Niranjan Kumar scored from a snap move in the seventh minute to give his team a 1-0 lead, which they managed to maintain till the end of the first half.
However, after a pep talk at the break, Union Bank of India returned strong and energetic striker Brendon Fernandes capitalized on a clear opening to stab home the equalizing goal and ensure his team forced a draw and division of two points.
Earlier, Air India Youth continued with their impressive winning streak as the managed to get the better of Mumbai Port Trust by a narrow 2-1 margin. Strikers Raj Mishra and Sujal Patil struck a goal each for Air India, while Mumbai Port Trust got their lone goal through Yash Potdar’s efforts.
