Union Bank of India recovered well after an early setback to inflict a c rushing 5-1 defeat on Mumbai Port Trust in a Super Division match of the MHAL League 2017-2018, at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate on Saturday evening.
Mumbai Port Trust started brightly and took the lead through Gaurav Nimbalkar in the very fifth minute. But Union Bank replied firmly with Vikram Singh scoring the equaliser in the 18th minute as the teams went into the break on level terms at 1-all.
However, after switching ends, Union Bank scored four goals with Prince Chaurasia netting two in quick succession in the 58th and 59th minutes. Earlier, Aakib Rahim scored in the 56th minute and Nitesh Kamble got the fifth in the 68th minute.
Arvind Yadav who scored a late equaliser for SAI won the ‘Man of the Match’ award and he received a cash award of Rs 1,000.
On Saturday, Mumbai Port Trust will take on Union Bank of India at 4.00pm.
