Unbeaten 91 break by Rahul Sachdev


Rahul Sachdev (Scratch handicap) grabbed all the attention constructing an unbeaten 91 break, the highest in the tournament. Sachdev and partner Himanshu Jain, also playing with a scratch handicap, outshone the Khar Gymkhana duo of Sahil Kakad (+30) and Manoj Kasare (+30) by a 3-1 margin in a second round match of the Khar Gymkhana Snooker Shootout 2019, sponsored by Rustomjee Builders and played at Khar Gymkhana’s Yasin Merchant Snooker Room.

The southpaw cueist Sachdev got off to a poor start as he lost to Kasare 64-90 in the opening 15-red frame. But his teammate Jain won the 6-red second frame defeating Kakad by a narrow 47-39 points margin to draw level. Later, the Sachdev and Jain combo proved too good for the Kakad and Kasare pairing and comfortably won the 15-red doubles contest by an 88-53 margin. Sachdev and Kasare once clashed in the 15-red fourth frame, but this time the former was in full flow and with precision potting compiled the massive effort to outclass his rival by cruising to 108-49 win and seal the match.

 

 

Meanwhile the experienced CCI pair of Hasan Badami and Mukund Bharadiya, both starting with scratch handicaps faced little resistance and blanked the Pune team of Rohan Sakalkar (+20) and Samar Khandelwal (+20) by a fluent 3-0 margin.

 

The visiting team of Mohsin Achhava (+30) and Karmesh Patel (+20) from Ahmedabad caused a major upset defeating the young talented partnership of Kreishh Gurbaxani (+10) and Sparsh Pherwani (+10) by a fluent 3-1 verdict to progress to the pre-quarters.

 

The Pak Club team encountered mixed fortunes. The pair of Vishal Gehani (+30) and Ameya Sankhala (+40) overcame the seasoned Railway team of beat Rafath Habib (SCR) and S. Dilipkumar (SCR) 3-0, while the other Park Club duo of Sanjeev Bijlani (+30) and Amit Sapru (+30) went down to the Md. Hussain (+10) and Ketan Chawla (SCR) team by a 1-3 frame scores.
