Thanks to Umesh Gujjar’s hard-hitting 97, MCC (Blue) scored a thumping 175-runs victory over Twisters Sports Club in the knockout quarterfinals of the five-team double-leg Twister-MCC-Pro40 League-season-3 played at Cross Maidan here today. The winners will next take on MCC (Green) in the semi finals to be played on next Thursday.
Making first use of the dry pitch, MCC (Blue) lost two early wickets before Umesh and Rupesh Sarkute joined hands to put on 105 runs for the second wicket. Even after Umesh fell, the rest of the batting did well to take the scored to 267 for eight in the stipulatd 40 overs. Umesj’s 97 had 13 fours and three sixes. Medium pacer Vishal Sngh (3/65), Farhan Kazi (2/36) and Chandan Srivastava (2/12) shard the bowling honours.
Chasing such a huge score, Twisters batsmen put up spirited fight, but most of their batsmen lacked aggression and were dismissed for 92.
