Uma & Sathiya sail away to glory


Uma Chauhan of National Sailing School, Bhopal and Sathiya Sudan of Trishna Sailing Club, Bengaluru braved the constantly changing conditions fighting their opponents in grueling 12 races to emerge champions of Optimist Class and RS One Class respectively at the Junior Coastal Multiclass Regatta  organized by Corps of Engineering Sailing Club (CESC) at the Marve Beach on Thursday.

Low winds continued for the second day in a row with Sailors struggling to maintain their leads. Sachin Bethmalla who was threatening to take the title away from Uma Chauhan lost track of the wind and struggled to finish the race settling for an overall 5th position. Meanwhile, Uma had a flawless race keep her pole position and taking home the Optimist Class trophy after competing with close to 65 participants in 12 races. Raj Vishwakarma who was consistently behind the pair saw an opportunity in Sachin’s dismal performance and sailed slowly but steadily to take the second spot.

Meanwhile,  Sathiya Sudan who was aware of the threat posed by Ishwarya Ganesh and Mandeep Sailed with precision and never lost sight of his goal to clinch the fiercely contested RS One Trophy.

 

 

420 Class race saw a little disruption with Dawood Qureshi and Pradeep Thakur being overtaken by the Pair of Alan Thomas and S Bharat of  TSC  in the final moments of the 12th race to take the second place. Pilli Akhil and Binoob M of Corps of Engineers Sailing Club but they failed to do so as Akhil and Binoob remained unchallenged as they maintained their lead to win the Junior Costal Multi-Class Regatta.
