UBI,Customs share honours in a draw


Union Bank of India and Mumbai Customs shared the spoils as they were involved in an absorbing and thrilling 2-2 draw in a Super Division match of the MHAL League 2017-2018, at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate on Wednesday evening.

The bankmen against the run of play took the lead when Aakib Rahim found the net in the 17th minute. But, Customs fought back and scored two quick goals from penalty corner with P.L. Thimmanna sounding the boards with a firm drag-flick in the 24th minute and two minutes later Dharambir Yadav scored from an indirect short corner drill to give his team a 2-1 lead. Union Bank of India managed to restore parity when full back Harjeet Singh converted from their fifth penalty corner in the 64th minute.

Mumbai Customs forward Dharambir Yadav who scored the team’s second goal won the ‘Man of the Match’ award and he received a cash award of Rs 1,000.

In Thursday’s matches, Western Railway take on Maharashtra State Police at 2.30pm and later Central Railway meet Mumbai Port Trust at 4.15pm.
