Union Bank of India( UBI) put up a solid, fighting display to overcome a determined PIFA Colaba SC by a narrow 2-1 margin in a hard-fought Elite Division match of the District Football Association (MDFA) league 2015-2016, and played at the Cooperage ground, on Sunday.
Pratik Koli netted the opening goal for Union Bank in the 41st minute before Rohel Shaikh struck the second 10 minutes later to give the bankers a 2-0 half-time cushion.
The Colaba outfit worked hard but could only manage one strike through Mohd. Junaid in the 59th minute and had to end up on the losing side.
In the next round of Elite Division, Central Bank of India take on ONGC on Monday, February 29 at 3.00 pm.
Result – Elite Div: Union Bank of India 2 (Pratik Koli 31st, Rohel Shaikh 41st) beat PIFA Colaba 1 (Mohd Junaid 59th).
