U Mumba run past Dabang Delhi


 

A solid professional performance ensured U Mumba further cement their standing at the top of the table, defeating Dabang Delhi K.C. 44-19 in the 6th Vivo Pro Kabaddi played at Vishakapatnam on Tuesday. It was U Mumba’s third straight win over Delhi.

 

 

 

U Mumba started strong, with Darshan, Rohit and Siddharth picking up quick points to race to a 5-2 lead in the 5th minute. Just when Dabang Delhi was looking to counter, U Mumba’s defence got into the act with Fazel making a few smart tackles to keep the lead intact, leading the game by 8-5 with 10 minutes to go for the first half. A raid by Siddharth and a tackle by Fazel left Delhi with only 2 players on the mat facing an all-out. Dabang Delhi came back into the game by taking out Siddharth and scoring 2 valuable super tackle points. However, U Mumba got the breakthrough scoring 3 quick points and inflicting an all-out, leading 16-9 with less than 3 minutes to go. U Mumba had complete control over the game leading 19-11 at the end of the first half.

 

 

 

U Mumba faltered at the start of the second half when a hasty raid helped Chandran Ranjit pick up 4 points in a raid including one bonus point taking out Siddharth, Surinder and Rohit Rana. Rohit Baliyan made 2 crucial raids to get U Mumba back to full strength, leading the game 23-14 with 13 minutes to go. U Mumba inflicted their second all-out of the night taking a huge 15 point lead at 30-15 with 8 minutes to go. U Mumba started experimenting with their lineup bringing in Arjun Deshwal & Subash to mix things up. U Mumba seemed unstoppable, leading the game 35-18 with 3 minutes to go. Substitute Arjun Deshwal made an excellent raid taking out 2 players and forcing the 3rd all-out of the game. Soon after Siddharth made a toofani super raid to pick up 3 points and lead by 42-19 with 30 seconds to go. Fazel & Arjun closed the game in style scoring a point each helping U Mumba win the tie 44-19.

 

 

 

Siddharth Desai has reached 197 raid points and is just three short from becoming the fastest player in the league’s history to cross 200 raid points. He was the runaway choice for the super raider. Fazel was awarded the defender of the match scoring 5 tackle points in 5 attempts.
