U Mumba hold Jaipur Panthers


U Mumba rallied from an eight-point deficit with less than five minutes to go to enforce a 35-35 draw against Jaipur Pink Panthers in an exciting 6th Vivo Pro Kabaddi match played in Panchkula on Saturday.

 

 

 

Siddharth started off the game with a bonus but Japiur neutralised in the next raid with Anand Patil taking out Dharmaraj. After successful raids from Siddharth, which saw him become the fastest player to reach 200 points in the PKL, Rohit and Fazel made 2 hasty tackles to gift 2 points to the Jaipur Panthers. Rohit’s back to back raids helped U Mumba keep the lead at 6-4, 7 minutes into the first half. U Mumba scored a few quick points and raced to 10-5 with 9 minutes to go for the first half. U Mumba missed an all-out opportunity when Jaipur scored a super tackle taking out Siddharth and scoring 2 points. The super tackle was followed by a super raid from Amit Kumar which helped Jaipur Pink Panthers to reduce the deficit by 2 points at 10-12 with 5 minutes to go.  U Mumba managed to keep their nose ahead, leading the tie 14-12 at the end of the first half.

 

 

 

The second half started with Jaipur Pink Panthers tackling Rohit Baliyan and Deepak Hooda taking out Fazel in a raid and inflicting an all-out, taking a 3 point lead at 17-14. Siddharth bailed out U Mumba with a two-point raid trailing by just one point at 17-18. But Jaipur were in no mood to relent, taking out Rohit Rana, substitute Arjun Deshwal and Siddharth Desai to take 4 point lead at 21-17. An unnecessary tackle by Fazel and  defensive error by Dharmaraj gave Jaipur another all-out opportunity and gave them a huge 8 point lead at 27-19. U Mumba scored a few quick points but were still trailing at 24-30 with 4 minutes to go. Fazel scored his first tackle point of the night in the 17th minute of the second half and Siddharth picked up his 12th super 10 with U Mumba still trailing by 4 points at 28-32. U Mumba bounced back in style inflicting an all-out and leading the game by one point at 33-32. Deepak Hooda scored a bonus point with less than 30 seconds to go levelling the scores at 34-34. Siddharth scored a smart raid point and U Mumba were poised to win the match but a last-minute raid by Deepak ensured that U Mumba had to settle for a draw at 35-35.
