Tyrone,Aaryavardhan recover to advance into Boys U-17 semis


Tyrone Pereira and Aaryavardhan Jadhav, both displayed plenty of determination and solid willpower as they fought back to win their respective matches and advance to the semi-finals of Boys under-17 singles event of the CCI-Greater Mumbai District Badminton Championship 2018, jointly organized by the Cricket Club of India (CCI) and the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association (GBMA) and played at the CCI Badminton courts.

The top-seeded Tyrone, who is carrying a thigh strain, lost the opening game to Shivam Mirke in a quarter-final encounter. But thereafter, Tyrone, gradually and steadily managed to get into his rhythm and found his range of shots as he went on to dictate terms. He comfortably won the next two games to script an 18-21, 21-10, 21-7 victory.

 

Aaryavardhan, also recovered strongly to get the better of favourite Ruturaj Rathod in the three games in another last eight match. Playing with plenty of resilience Aaryavardhan, who tamely lost the first game, produced a much improved performance in the following two games. He started to play with greater confidence and went flat out for the kill as he smashed his way to a deserving 11-21, 21-12, 21-10 victory.

 

Earlier, Aaryavardhan the second seed in the Boys’ under-15 category easily sailed past Shubhek Sidhu winning at 15-2, 15-3.

 

Meanwhile in Girls’ under-15 competition, top-seeded Pooja Kachare overcame Tia Mishra 21-18, 21-17 and second-seeded Shivani Herlekar got the better of Shravani Panchal 21-12, 21-13 to progress to the semi-finals.
