Second seed Tushar Shahani put up a strong, determined approach to register an upset win over top seed Puneet Pareek in the boys’ under-21 final of the Indian Squash Professional (ISP) organised Rs 80,000 prize-money JVPG-ISP Squash Challenge-League 2, being played at the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana courts. This event is the 117th tournament to be conducted by ISP.
In the summit clash, Tushar produced a disciplined steady performance to clinch a well-deserved 11-7, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7 victory to emerge champion.
In the boys’ under-15 finals, top seed Suraj Chand encountered initial resistance from second Shlok Makhija before pulling through in three games at 14-12, 11-6, 11-3 to walk away with the top honours.
Meanwhile, women’s top seed Urvashi Joshi faced little opposition in getting past second seed Aakanksha Rao in straight games winning at 11-7, 11-3, 11-6 to lift the title.
The top seeds, Aishwarya Khubchandani and Atyaa Ogale bagged the girls’ under-13 and under-17 crowns respectively.
