Only two months ago, TTC Palava had successfully organised the first Masters’ TT Tournament of the season and made all the participants happy with their hospitality. And now, they went on to conduct the Thane District Ranking Table Tennis tournament . This showed the enthusiasm of the organisers and their keen interest in the game of table tennis.
The Palava District Ranking TT tournament held under the aegis of Thane District Table Tennis Association was conducted at the Olympic Sports Centre, Lakeshore Greens, Palava. For this event TTC Palava had received big support from self motivated Mentors team. This tournament had attracted 475 entries from across Thane with 6yrs kids to 80 yrs enthusiastic players. Palava City has provided best infrastructure and support through its Sports Council Members and team of PCMA so that such District, State and International events can also be held in days to come.
This tournament was supported by Lokmat. Donic remained the equipment partner. Total Sports was the sporting partner, while Sanwei were the Ball sponsors. Event saw a footfall of around 2000 people in 4 days between 30th June and 3rd July from in and out of Palava.
On 3rd July the best of matches were conducted from quarter finals to Finals. The winners and players won hearts of spectators and Palava distributed so many prizes that everyone was made happy. Parents were awarded everyday for supporting their children.
Best Player of tournament Boy award was given to Deepit Patil who won Junior, Youth, Men’s singles and Men’s Doubles category and who is also currently India No.1 in Junior Category. The Best player female was given to a 10 year old girl who played fearlessly and won Midget Girls and Cadet Girls also. Audience was charmed by her compassion and confidence. Best Dressed player male was Nilay Pattekar who was dressed up religiously from bottom to top like a sports star. The Best dressed player female was Tiya Wagh.
The Dais was taken by Sports Head Palava Mr. Animesh Lokras, President TTC Palava Dr. Sudhakar Babras, Treasurer Mr. Shivram Iyer & Mr. Sandep Ghosh father of India’s star Junior Star player Swastika Ghosh. And , not to forget Abhishek the man behind the dais and his team members.
The star attraction of the evening was the felicitation of Swastika Ghosh. She is Currently World No. 15 ranked player in Junior Category and yesterday The Asian Table Tennis Union have selected Swastika Ghosh as per her international ranking for TT training camp at China starting from 31st July. She is the only Girl from India & South East Asia in Jr Girls Category and being a Maharashtra Player, we should all be proud of her achievements. Swastika had been the youngest Cadet National champion at the age of 9, She is currently ranked NO.15 in the world. In India she is the only girl player to achieve highest international Medal in a year 19 in numbers. She is currently also the Captain of Indian Jr Girls Team. Presently, Swastika is also under sponsorship of Virat Koli Sports Promotion Fund.
Palava organisers showered praise on her father Sandeep Ghosh, who has trained her in this game. There is no doubt that Swastika has worked hard as a player, but his father is the real hero , who left his job to be her full time coach & mentor. Mr. Sandeep Ghosh is a passionate Visionary for his daughter. Swastika was felicitated and also given a Cheque of Rs 11,000 under the Madhurika Girl Child Fund created for promoting table tennis in Girls (Madhurika is a Commonwealth Gold Medal winner for Country) . The crowd was excited to take photos with her .

In Men 49+ Debajeet Mukherjee stole the show by winning. Runner Up Atul Deshmukh
In Men 59+ Uday Gadkari stood as winner. runner up Upendra Purohit

For the First time all club members were invited and felicitated as they are running tournaments for almost last 30 years. They were presented Bags by participating Kids. Overall, it was a very well conducted tournament where the visitors and players ended a happy smiling journey of victory and children were the happiest clad. All players were provided a gift bag from Palava and Prize money was doubled and was around 1 lakh rupees to all achievers.
This also proved that TTC Palava were the best TT Tourney organisers.
