Maharashtra State Police (MSP) registered a 4-2 win against Bombay Republicans SC in a Senior Division match of the MHAL (Mumbai Hockey Association Limited) League – 2015 and played at the MHAL Stadium, Churchgate on Sunday evening.
The state cops who enjoyed the better of exchanges, capitalized on the chances the came their way to coast to victory. Satyajit Pawan, Arun Yadav, Ashish Chopade and Sumit Mohite were responsible for getting MSP’s goals, while Bombay Republicans reduced the margin of defeat with Bhushan Kanekar and Moshin K. scoring a goal each.
MSP now have 9 points and will have to score a win against league leaders Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) in the concluding league match on Monday and hope to qualify for the finals. RCF and Sea View SC, both have 12 points each. If MSP manages a win against the cops it will result in a three-way tie and the goal-difference will decide which two teams contest the final.

Triple treat for Aishwarya; double each for Nidhi and Atul
It was triple treat for Aishwarya Mishra, of Mulund’s Abhuday Sports Club, as she added third gold in her kitty while winning the 800m event in the YMCA’s 40thMaharashtra State Level Athletic meet held at Sports Authority of India Sports Complex, at Kandivali here today. She also emerged best in the 400m as well as in the 1500m events also.
Others to excel were Nidhi Singh, Achievers Sports Club (Thane), winner of the 400m and 800m gold in the girls under-18 category. Among men, at was Atul Salunke, from Sports Authority of India, who bagged double gold, who triumphed in the 800m in 2:03.1 secs as well as 1500m in 4:30.0 secs.

Sakshi Parmar from Mira Road’s AIM Sports Academy, set a new mark in the girls under-16 Javlin Throw event as she sent the javlin to 32.50 mts , thus bettering her own mark of 31.34 mts set last year.
