Maharashtra eked out a narrow 1-0 win against Punjab in a closely fought league match of the Junior Girl’s National Football Championship 2018-19 (Group Stage) and played at the Duler Football Ground, Mapusa, Goa.
The Maharashtra girls, who went down fighting 1-2 to Bihar in the opening group encounter put up an improved display and held the upper hand throughout the match.
They wasted quite a few open chances aand finally managed to net the winner when Tricia Collaco found the net in the 89th minute to secure Maharashtra’s victory.
Maharashtra have finished with three points are in second place behind Bihar in the three-team group.
Punjab will now take on Bihar in the concluding league match. The top team in the group will progress to the next phase of the competition.
