Top seeds Omi,Neel in semis


Top seeds Omi Mehta and Neel Joglekar faced little difficulty in getting past their respective opponents to march into the girls’ and boys’ singles semi-final round of the MSLTA-Wodehouse Maharashtra State Ranking Under-10 Tennis Tournament, played at the Wodehouse Gymkhana.

In the girls’ quarter-finals, Omi was in cracking form and handed Shreya Deshpande a 6-0 defeat, while Neel also was in great form and easily defeated Daksh Kukreti 6-2 in the boys’ last eight round.

Akakansha Agnihotri the second seed in the girls’ category also qualified for the semi-finals as she got past unseeded Aahana Attavar 6-2. In other last eight round matches, fifth seed Jui Kale scored an upset 6-4 win against third seed Anandi Bhutada, while fourth seed Avani Chitale defeated Mukta Sawant 6-4.

The others to advance to the semi-finals of the boys’ event are unseeded Karan Rawat who scored a stunning 6-1 win against foruth seed Eshan Meru, Samarth Sahita scored over Jeevan Nadar 6-3 and Aarav Mehta overcame Mihir Kantawala 6-4.
