Tiwari’s unbeaten ton lifts Kurla SC to victory


Kurla Sports Club boosted by Lakshya Tiwari’s superb unbeaten century knock of 115 runs snatched a narrow two-wicket victory against United Cricketers in a Group-N league match of the 3rd MCA Under-19 Cricket Tournament organized by Bhama Cricket Club in association with Mumbai Cricket Club under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the United Cricketers ground, Cross Maidan.

Batting first, United Cricketers piled up a challenging total of 207 for eight wickets from 35 overs. A half century effort from Amit Gupta 52 runs and Aryesh Sadvilkar 44 runs propped the United Cricketers innings. Later, Kurla Sports Club riding on Tiwari massive effort easily surpassed the target reaching 213 for eight wickets in 34.1 overs. Augastya P. contributed 40 runs to complete the win.

Brief scores: Crescent CC 133 for 8, 35 overs (Piyush Pawar 42) lost to Payyade Sports Club 134 for 2, 26.5 overs (Pranay Kapadia 41, Rajkumar Pal 35*). Result: Payyade Sports Club won by 8 wickets.

United Cricketers 207 for 8, 35 overs (Amit Gupta 52, Aryesh Sadvilkar 44) lost to Kurla Sports Club 213 for 8, 34.1 overs (Lakshya Tiwari 115*, Augastya P. 40). Result: Kurla Sports Club won by 2 wickets.

Apollo Cricket Club 230 for 4, 35 overs (Abhinab Saha 79, Roshan Gupta 57*, Kesar Upadhay 43, Varun Doshi 40*) beat P.J. Hindu Gymkhana 193 all out, 34.5 overs (Sarth Waghela 87, Arnav saxena 36; Roshan Gupta 3/12, Sachin Kumar 3/36). Result: Apollo Cricket Club won by 37 runs.

Bhama Cricket Club 175 all out, 19.4 overs (Ankit Yadav 45, Sameer Singh 32; Mohit Bisht 4/24) beat Wellington Cricket Club 86 for 6, 20 overs. Result: Bhama Cricket Club won by 89 runs.
