Thane boy Tejas Shirose kept his nerves when it mattered most to score a come from behind win over Pune’s Atharv Aras to move into the fourth round of the boys under-15 singles of the 2nd Maharshtra State Dr Vijay Patil Sub-Junior Badminton Selection Tournament, hosted by BOR (Badminton Organisation Of Raigad) at DY Patil Sports Academy at Nerul here today. With both the players not giving an inch to the other, Tejas showed slightly more aggression to outwit Atharv to emerge a worthy 15-14, 9-15, 15-14 winner.
Pune boy Varun Kapoor was pretty impressive while making the 3rd round of the boys under-15 singles of the the 2nd Maharshtra State Dr Vijay Patil Sub-Junior Badminton Selection Tournament
With fortunes fluctuating right through, Pune’s Darshan Pujari got the better of Nashik’s Shikand Shanbhag 15-13, 13-15, 15-13 in about about 30 mintues of engrossing contest in another under-15 tie. In another boys under-15 singles, Sasmit Patil, who was stretched in the earlier round, once again had to endure a tough time against Mumbai Suburban’s Dhruv Oza before the Pune boy was through with a 15-11, 13-15, 15-8 win.
