TCS paddlers Bhagwat,Damale emerge supreme in Corp.TT


Apeksha Bhagwat and Aakash Damale, both of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) emerged supreme winning the ladies singles and men’s singles crowns respectively in the 4th edition of the 11even Sports Inter-Corporate Table Tennis Tournament, promoted by NSportz and played at the Khar Gymkhana.

In the ladies final, Apeksha did not have to exert herself too much and in convincing fashion defeated Anita Raj of Bank of America in the three straight games at 11-8, 11-7, 11-7 to emerge champion.

Later, Apeksha’s compatriot Aakash showed great resilience and strong fighting qualities to overcome fancied Mayuresh Kelkar of Indian Express pulling through in five grueling games by a 3-2 margin in the final. Aakash matched the attacking play of Mayuresh and after trailing 1-2, he managed to bounce back to clinch a hard-earned 12-14, 11-7, 7-11, 11-9, 11-9 win and claim the men’s title.

Meanwhile, Apeksha completed a grand double by winning the mixed doubles title. She along with partner Vishal Yadav cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win against the J.P. Morgan duo of Amrita Jaisingh and Chetan Dere. The TCS pair faced no problems in coasting to a 11-9, 11-7, 11-5 win in the final.

Suhas Chawan (Medialake Global) defeated Rajesh Sharma (Reliance Infra) 11-4, 11-5, 113-11 in the veteran’s singles finals, while the Reliance Industries combination of Satish Patel and Viral Patel bagged the men’s doubles title defeating the HDFC Life pair of Suraj Chandrashekar and Yash Doshi 11-6, 11-6, 11-5.

However, the HDFC Life paddlers of Chandrashekar and Doshi did not go home disappointed as they claimed the Corporate Team Championship. They defeated Reliance Industries 3-0 in the final.

The event was organized under the auspices of MCDTTA and MSDTTA, and offered total cash prizes of over Rs 1 lakh, and attractive trophies.
