Swarajya girls from Ghatkopar inflicted a solid 40-10 defeat on Khar’s Anjani Kreeda Mandal to storm into the women’s semifinals of the Poinsur Gymkhana’s open floodlit kabaddi tournament, held under the auspices of Mumbai Suburban District Kabaddi Association, at Yuvak Kreeda Mandal, Kandivali (West), on Thursday night. The Ghatkopar girls were not only strong but their were very swift, resulting in their rivals finding it hard to score points.All they could earn were four points in the first half and six in the second, while Swarajya players virtually toyed with them and in the process recorded 18 points in the first half and 22 in the second.
Joining Swarajya in the last four were Chembur’s Navshakti Mandal, who scored a narrow2 18-14 win over Parle Sports Club, strong favourite Mahatma Gandhi Sports Academy, from Bandra, who dominated right through against Ghatkopar’s Satyam Mandal before winning 31-10 and Goregaon’s Sangarsh Kreeda Mandal, who made the graded through default.
