Swami Vivekanand boys from Borivali, having being at the recieving at the hands of defending champions Rizvi Springfield,for over a decade, at last turned the tables with a commanding 60 runs win in the final of the Khar Gymkhana-B.Khichadia suburban schools cricket tournament, held at Khar Gymkhana here today. The hero of Swami Vivekanand’s triumph was their skipper, Suved Parkar, who after top scoring with 71, came out with hostile second spell, which saw him capature four wickets. with his medium pacers to break Rizvi batsmen’s aspirations.
Batting first after winning the toss, Swami Viveknand batsmen were aggressive right from the word go. A century stand (103) between opener Manan Zatakia (61) and skipper Suved Parkar (71) gave them a solid foundation.. After Manan’s departure, Suved had another flourishing partnership with Gautam Waghela (60 n.o.) which propelled the score further as they ended with 285 for five off the allotted 45 overs.
The Rizvi batsmen did put up a spirited fight, but the target in the end proved too much for them as they folded up for 225 before they were all out in 38.3 overs.
