Sushma Pardeshi of Palghar District displayed terrific fighting spirit as she rallied from losing the opening set to prevail over Jyoti Katdare of Mumbai District in three long sets at 32-39, 33-31, 34-20 in a women’s singles quarter-final match of the Apna Sahakari Bank sponsored 1st State Ranking Morrac Tournament, organized by the MORRAC Association, Mumbai, and played at the N.M. Joshi High School premises, N.M. Joshi Marg.
In another interesting women’s match that went the distance, Mumbai District’s Samidha Jadhav after training 0-1 recovered to brush aside the challenge from Rupali Bawa of Raigad District winning at 36-38, 35-18, 32-13.
In a junior girls’ singles last eight round encounter, Disha Bangera of Palghar District overcame a spirited fight back from Yavatmal District’s Anjali Jain by pulling off a 37-30, 32-35, 44-27 victory to advance to the semi-finals.
