Suraj,Ravi win Gold at Mumbai Games TT


Suraj Chandrashekhar and Ravi Chopra both seasoned players in competititive table tennis in Mumbai won Gold medal each in the Men’s 21+ and Men’s 40+ section of the Champions Cup of Mumbai Games Table tennis tournament, which concluded last week end at Shahaji Raje Bhosale Sports Complex Andheri. While Suraj also won another Gold in Men’s 21+ doubles partnering DJang, Ravi Chopra bagged Silver in Doubles along with his partner Percy Mehta in the same Doubles event.

In the Women’s Singles 21+ Urmila Bapat won Gold in Champions Cup defeating Pragya Sharma who bagged Silver. The Boys Under 21 Gold  fpor Champions Cup was won by Shivam Punjabi, who defeated Mohit Vaishnav in the finals. In the Girls Under 18 Champions Cup Gauri Padalkar bagged Gold when she defeated Janhavi Vichare in finals, while Shubham Sawant beat Swyama Ibrampurkar to win Gold in Boys Under 18 event.

The Champions Cup for men’s 35+ was won by Shyam Shirke who defeated Paul Dmello in finals. The Boys Under 15 Champions cup final was won by Sanskar Basak who defeated Dev Jhaveri, while Girls Under 15 title winner was Mukta dalvi who beat Priyanka Gupte in finals.

 

The other Winners of Gold medals in Champions Cup were Divyanshi Bhowmick( Girls Midget), Swarali Sharma –Girls cadet, Arnav Wagh Boys Midget, Arnav Kshirsagar- Boys cadet and so on . There were Premier Cup matches for those who secured 2nd position in the league, offering them some consolation with separate medals. Overall, it was a well organized tournament with heavey schedule properly maintained by chief referee Dominic savio Lobo and his team of umpires and assistants.
