An attacking player that he is, Suraj Chandrashekar starred in the 5th edition of the 11Sports Corporate Table Tennis championship, propelling HDFC Life to the Men’s Team title here on Sunday.

In the Mixed Team event, Swanand Rajput and Samartha Prusty combined well to beat TCS 3-1 and clinch the title for ICICI (B).
In an action-packed day that saw some of the city’s top companies battle for honours in the tournament organised by NSportz, Suraj Chandrashekar won all the three matches in which he featured to beat Inrhythm Sports 3-1.
He started off by taming Naveen Varghese 11-1, 11-8, 11-2 in the first singles’ match; his teammate Yash Doshi, however, suffered a setback, losing to Veeraj Satra 9-11, 7-11, 10-12. It was Suraj all the way after that as he first teamed up with Yash to win the doubles’ contest 11-9, 11-5, 8-11, 11-3. Then, he won his reverse singles’ match against Veeraj 11-8, 15-13, 11-5 to clinch the trophy.
Swanand Rajput began ICICI’s Mixed Team event campaign by overcoming Vishal Yadav 11-6, 11-4, 9-11, 11-8. Samartha Prusty too won the Ladies’ Singles against Namita Vadgaonkar 11-3, 11-3, 11-6; Swanand and Aditya Phadke however lost the Men’s Doubles to Vishal/Deepak Vishwakarma 11-7, 8-11, 8-11, 7-11. But Samartha and Swanand proved to be too good for Vishal and Nasima Khatun in the Mixed Doubles’ 11-4, 11-6, 11-7.
