Fatima High School, Vidyavihar rode on the brilliance of striker Sujal Kamble who scored goals and went on to snatch a deserving 3-2 win against Arya Vidya Mandir, Bandra in an intense and exciting second round match of the St Peter’s Youth Centre organised Inter-School (5-a-side) football tournament supported by Mumbai City FC and played at the St. Stanislaus High School grounds, Bandra.
Sujal’s teammate Ashvit Rau got the third goal to secure the win. Arya Vidya Mandir who ended up on the losing side despite putting a fighting display managed to get their goals through Krishna Mansinghani and Pratham Talwar.
In another closely contested encounter, Campion School, Cooperage Road showed steely nerves to overcome St. Theresa’s ‘B’, Bandra 6-5 via the tie-breaker after the scored were tied at 2-2 at the end of regulation period.
In normal time, Raj Bhagat and Ram Rathod were bang on target for Campion while Tarun Kanawal got both the goals for St. Theresa’s. In the tie-breaker, Campion successfully converted from their first four attempts through Raj, Ram, Jayaveer Chawla and Rohan Sanghani, while St. Theresa’s could only convert three through Tarun, Fahad Shaikh and Abubakar Shaikh.
