Based on his performance last year , Suhas Rane was Top seeded in the Men’s event. However, he lost in the quarter finals to young Tanmay Rane. Suhas did manage semi finalist position in Men’s doubles, but he went on to win the Title of Veterans’ Event of the MCF-4 Star All -Mumbai Ranking Table Tennis tournament, hosted by Mandpeshwar Civic Federation today evening . In the finals, Suhas defeated top seeded Rajesh Singh 3-2 in a well contested match. In all, Suhas bagged three prizes including his Veterans’ title.
Suhas Rane won the title in the Veterans Section at the Mumbai Ranking TT Tourney at MCF, Borivali.
Earlier in the quarter finals, Suhas had defeated Gill Gurcharan Singh 3-0 and in the semi finals stopped the winning run of unseeded Tejas Naik, who had beaten Abhay Mehta in the quarter finals. Earlier during the day , second seeded Prakash Kelkar conceded his pre quarter final match in the decider to Abhay Mehta. In another pre quarter final match Gill Gurcharan Singh had knocked out seeded Percy Mehta.
Fourth seeded Kiran Salian also applied brakes to Vivek Bhargava’s progress, defeating him 3-1 in the quarter final match. Kiran however lost to Rajesh Singh in the other semi finals. The hero of the day was certainly Suhas Rane.
