Manan Shah of Malabar Hill Club and Avenish Shah of Mandpeshwar Civic Foundation, both playing with an identical handicap of -100, were engaged in a keen tussle before the former who was steadier of the two cueists managed to snatch a close 200-153 win in the race to 200 points first round match of the Bombay Gymkhana Handicap Billiards Tournament, and played at the Bombay Gymkhana billiards hall on Monday.
In another match, Sanchit Gemavat (-60) of Mandpeshwar Civic Foundation had a successful day getting the better of Khar Gymkhana’s Nikhil Saigal (-100) 200-86 in another first round encounter.
Meanwhile, Catholic Gymkhana’s Ralph Fernandes (scratch) had a relaxed time as he tamed Sahil Mohite (-60) of Malabar Hill Club by a convincing 200-56 margin.
Karan Chuganee (-25) of Bombay Gymkhana went down fighting to Anil Sagar (-15) of Matoshree Club by a narrow 184-200 margin.
