Stanislaus,Bosco to clash in final

Powered by the brilliance of Saurabh Gupta, who scored two goals, St. Stanislaus High School went on to record a fighting 3-2 win, after leading 3-1 at half-time, against Maharashtra Military School in a boys’ semi-final match of the MHAL orgainsed Inter-Schools (Boys’ and Girls’ Under-16) Hockey Tournament played at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate.

St. Stanislaus forced the pace from the start and scored two quick goal through Saurabh who scored from a penalty stroke in the sixth minute and in the next minute Kris Albuquerque scored the second goal. The Military School reduced the deficit when Vedant Mhatre scored from a field effort in the 17th minute. Stanislaus got the third when Saurabh once again hit the target a minute from the half-time hooter.

In the second half, the Military School boys tried their best to score goals, but they could only manage one with Prajwal Sugare finding the net in the 33rd minute.

Stanislaus will meet Don Bosco High School in the final. Don Bosco got the better of Guru Nanak High School 6-5 via the penalty shootout after the teams were tied 1-all at the end of regulation period.

For Don Bosco the goals came through Faizuddin Siddique who scored in normal time and in the tie-breaker. Kris Benson, Yash Jadhav, Atharva Shelke and Nihal Dudwalkar, were the other players who were successful in the penalty shooutout. Guru Nanak scored through Rahul Chaturvedi two goals and one each from Prashant Mourya, Zogeb Shaikh and Dhrui Prathamesh

Semi-final Results – Boys: Don Bosco 6 (Faizuddin Siddique 2, Kris Benson, Yash Jadhav, Atharva Shelke, Nihal Dudwalkar) beat Guru Nanak 5 (Rahul Chaturvedi 2, Prashant Mourya, Zogeb Shaikh, Dhrui Prathamesh) via the tie-breaker. Full-time: 1-1.

St. Stanislaus HS 3 (Saurabh Gupta 2, Kris Albuquerque) beat Maharashtra Military School 2 (Vedant Mhatre, Prajwal Sugare).
