Stage Set for K.K.Rai Memorial Masters’ TT


The second Maharashtra Masters’ Ranking Table Tennis tournament to be played in memory of legendary TT player K.K.Rai, is all set to begin at the well equipped Kalidas Sports Complex, Mulund. This beautiful venue selected by BKLP and MMTTC has elaborate arrangements to welcome 250 Masters who will be playing in their respective age groups above 39+ in Men’s  and Women’s individual and team events.

This tournament will be inaugurated tomorrow morning around 9.30 a.m. in presence of dignitaries like Shri. Mihir Kotecha ( MLA), Smt. Ashwini Bhide- Additional Commissioner ( BMC), Shri. Kishor Gandhi- Dy. Commissioner ( BMC) and Shri. Sunil Godase- OSD( BMC).  After the official inauguration ceremony, matches of 39+ Men’s team event will continue followed by 59+ Men’s team event at 11 am.

Many top players from Maharashtra who have won medals at the National and International Masters’ tournaments are participating in this tournament.Prominent among them are Yogesh Desai, Prakash Kelkar, Mangal Saraf, Suhasini Bakre, Moonmoon Mukherjee, Dr.Sadiya Vanjara, Anil Rasam, Rajesh Mudam, Prakash Punjabi, Ulhas Shirke, Kapil Kumar, Purshottam Markad, Naveen Salian, Samir Bhate, Kiran Salian, Dr.Nitin Toshniwal and many others who have been performing well at the national level.  

All the participants will be offered a Free T shirt besides Breakfast, Tea, Mini Lunch , evening tea & Snacks on Saturday 19th and Breakfast, Tea and Lunch will also be served on Sunday 20th August. In addition to this, trophies, medals and cash prizes will be given to the winners, runners ups, SF’s and QF’s. The participants can also attend a free seminar on ‘Spine and Posture’by Dr. Sadiya renowned Physiotherapist and well Known TT player.

Prakash Kelkar who regularly practices at kalidas Sports Complex, has worked very hard along with Avinash Kothari from the same club and others to make all the arrangments at the venue. Afterall, this tournament is being played in memory of his good friend and partner Late. K.K.Rai the TT legend.
