St. Lawrence and Sacred Heart score contrasting wins


St. Lawrence, Kandivali and Sacred Heart, Santacruz scored contrasting wins to set up a clash in the final of the Bengal Club organised Inter-Schools Boys’ Under-16 Football Tournament and played at Shivaji Park, Dadar.

In a one-sided semi-final match, St. Lawerence riding on the brilliance of skipper Anurag Tawde who netted a brace of goals comfortably defeated St. Paul’s, Dadar by a 3-0 scoreline. Dhruv Belgave scored the third goal to complete the Kandivali schoolboys’ victory.

The second semi-final was evenly contested and witnessed a close fight for supremacy but the match finished in a goalless draw and the referee enforced the penalty shootout tie-breaker to resolve the outcome of the match.

In the penalty shootout, Sacred Heart successfully converted through Kane Simoes, John Katke, Moses Alexander and Utarsh Bagoria, while Utpal Sanghvi could only score two with Fahel Khan and Mustafa Poonawala finding the net.
