30th Willingdon Catholic Gym Inter-Parish Rink football
St. Joseph’s Parish ‘A’, Mira Road enjoyed complete dominance as they recorded an emphatic 6-0 victory against St. Francis Xavier’s Parish ‘A’, Vile Parle in a lop-sided men’s semi-final match of the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana organised 30th Inter-Parish Rink Football Tournament – 2017 and played at the WCG’s floodlit tennis courts, late on Friday evening. Leading St. Joseph’s charge to the big win was Suraj Negi who scored two goals, while Alroy D’Souza, Dylan Ferrao, Svilzor Pinto and Gouraj Surve, all scored a goal each to round off the winning tally.
In the second semi-final, Sacred Heart Parish ‘A’ Andheri got the better of Our Lady of Salvation Parish ‘B’, Dadar by a close 2-1 margin. Akshay Chavan netted both the goals for the Andheri Parish while Salvation got the lone goal through Scott D’Souza.
Meanwhile in a women’s semi-final encounter, Sacred Heart Parish, Vashi tamed Sacred Heart Parish ‘B’, Andheri romping to a 3-1 win. Annette Mascarenhas, Carol Mascarenhas and Karishma Vazirani struck one goal each to seal the Vashi outfit’s place in the final against Immaculate Conception Parish, Borival. Shalome Pinto scored the consolation goal for the losers.
