St. Francis D’Assisi win Inter-Schools football title


Showing excellent understanding St. Francis D’Assisi HS, Borivali combined well to blank BJPC HS, Charni Road 2-0 in the final of the 10th Goan Sports Association Boys’ Under-12 Inter-Schools Football Tournament and played at the GSA ground, Cross Maidan.

The hero of D’Assisi’s triumph was striker Nitesh Singh who scored both the goals to help his school clinch the win and emerge champions. The Borivali schoolboys were aggressive and dominant throughout the tournament and every member of the team contributed their bit as they followed the instruction of their coach perfectly.

Earlier, St. Francis D’Assisi defeated St. Joseph’s, Wadala 3-0 in the semi-finals. Dhruv Yogeshwar, Vedant and Keegan scored a goal each to seal the Borivali schoolboys win.

The winning St. Francis D’Assisi players received the winning trophy from Chief Guest, Prakash Coutinho, a former Mumbai Customs player. Also present to witness the final was Walter Pereira, a FIFA referee’s instructor and Dr. Cedric Moraes, ex-GSA, Hon. Gen. Secretary.
