St. Elias,Duruelo clash in finals


 

St. Elias High School were in a class of their own as they tamed St. Theresa’s High School by a convincing 5-0 margin in a girl’s semi-final match of the MHAL orgainsed Inter-Schools (Boys’ and Girls’ Under-16) Hockey Tournament played at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate.

The star performer for St. Elias was Akanksha Daphale who scored two goals, while consistent scorer Aradhana Jadhav, Kesar Bamania and Sharadha Haldankar, all chipped in with one each to round of the winning tally.

 

In the second semi-final, Duruelo Convent High School got the better of St. Joseph’s High School 3-2 via the penalty shootout after full time finished in a 1-all draw. For Duruelo, Kashish Sayyed scored in regulation period while Aishwarya Dubey and Manavi Jadhav proved successful in the penalty shootout duel. Rachel Michael scored both the goals, in normal play and in the tie-breaker, for St. Joseph’s.

 

Semi-final – results – Girls: St. Elias HS 5 (Akanksha Daphale 2, Kesar Bamania, Aradhana Jadhav, Sharadha Haldankar) beat St. Theresa’s HS 0.

 

Duruelo Convent 3 (Kashish Sayyed, Aishwarya Dubey, Manavi Jadhav) beat St. Joseph’s HS 2 (Rachel Michael 2).
