St. Elias High School, Khar and Don Bosco High School, Matunga bagged the girls’ and boys’ crowns respectively in the MHAL organized Inter-Schools (Boys’ and Girls’ Under-16) Hockey Tournament played at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate.

In the girls’ final, St. Elias enjoyed total domination and scored twice in each half to charge to a convincing 4-0 win against Duruelo Convent High School, Bandra. Showing good teamwork and combining well as a unit, the Khar schoolgirl’s scored a goal each through Sharadha Haldankar, Akanksha Daphale, Priyanka Mhatre and Aradhna Jadhav to complete their triumph.
In the boys’ summit clash, Don Bosco rode on the twin strikes from Faizuddin Siddique to overcome St. Stanislaus, Bandra 2-0. After a barren first 44 minutes, Don Bosco earned a penalty stroke and Faizuddin successfully converted to get the break. Four minutes later he scored from a field effort to double the lead and seal the Matunga schoolboys victory.

Both the St. Elias and Don Bosco teams were presented with the ‘Champions’ trophies and a cheque of Rs 10,000 each. Duruelo Convent and St. Stanislaus received the runners-up trophies and a cheque of Rs 5,000 each.
The individual award winners in the girls’ category were, Best goalkeeper: Reeba Shaikh (Duruelo Convent); Best defender: Harshada Dhantwale (St. Elias); Best midfielder: Aradhana Jadhav (St. Elias) and Best forward: Saniya Giri (St John’s).
In the boys’ category the awards went to, Best goalkeeper: Priyansh Harjai (Don Bosco); Best defender: Yash Jadhav (Don Bosco); Best midfielder: Noah D’Mello (St. Stanislaus); Best forward: Bris Benson (Don Bosco). All the individual winners received a cash award of Rs 1,000 each.
Final Results – Girls’: St. Elias HS 4 (Sharadha Haldankar, Akanksha Daphale, Priyanka Mhatre, Aradhna Jadhav) beat Duruelo Convent HS 0.
Boys: Don Bosco HS 2 (Faizuddin Siddique 2) beat St. Stanislaus HS 0.
