SpiritedWCG down Tarun Sporting


 

A spirited Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana (WCG) held their nerves and showed great spirit to overcome Tarun Sporting Club 4-3 in a thrilling First Division match of the MDFA League 2017-2018 and played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel.

 

In a match fluctuating fortunes, the Gymkhana outfit took an early lead with consistent striker Eric Dowling finding the back of the net in the second minute. Later Gleason Rodrigues struck twice in a space of as many minutes (24th and 28th minutes) to give Willingdon a solid 3-0 lead. However, Tarun Sporting fought back and managed to cut the deficit with Kaushal Meher scoring their first goal in the 38th minute as the first ended 3-1 in favour of Willingdon.

 

After switching sides, Tarun Sporting managed to score two goals through Oliver Aitolya in the 42nd minute and Benjamin Zolar in the 65th minute to level the scores.

 

But, Willingdon came up with more strike through Saumil Damor’s goal in the 78th minute to clinch a tight win and take away all the three points.

 

In another Second Division match, Smit Shah’s 69th minute goal enabled Feugo Tormento FC get the better of Joshua Generation SC 1-0.

 

Results – First Div: Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana 4 (Gleason Rodrigues 2, Eric Dowling, Saumil Damor) beat Tarun Sporting Club 3 (Kaushal Damor, Oliver Aitolya, Benjamin Solar).

 

Second Div: Millat FC ‘B’ 2 (Saalik Khan, Aimaad Khan) beat We Care SC 0.
