Last year’s finalist Swami Vivekanand International boys from Borilvi put up splendid allround displayed as they scored a thrilling 14 runs win over Anjuman-Islam (IST) to storm into the final of the Poinsur Gymkhana Inter-School cricket tournament, played at their gymkhana ground at Kandivali here today. Chasing Swami Vivekanand’s score of 158, the Anjumantried their best, but failerdf in their bid by 14 runs.
They take on holders Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) in the final to be played on Sunday, November 29. Rizvi outfit, batting first hit up 236 for four ff 30 overs with Yash Salunke (n.o. 88) and Shoab Siddiqui (82) hammering the IES (New English, Bandra) bowlers all over to rattle up 236 for four. In reply, The IES Bandra boys put up spirited display but found the target beyond them as they ended with 177 for three. Darshan Bhange (55),Sanket Kashte 48 n.o.) and Bhushan Talwadekar (32 n.o.) were the main contributors.
