Left-arm spinner Nikhil Gurav’s brilliant bowling performance of 6 for 27 runs helped M.V. Sports Club dismiss MIG Cricket Academy for 143 in 53.4 overs in the first innings on the first day of their 2-day semi-final match of the 28th Ajit Naik Memorial Selection Trial Boys’ U-14 cricket tournament, played at the MIG CC ground.
MIG CA batters got off to good starts, but failed to capitalize as they lost their wickets to Nikhil who troubled them with a teasing spell. Vedang Mishra 40 runs, Pradnyankur Bhalerao 34 runs, and Darshav Ojha 30 runs were responsible to lift the innings.
In reply, M.V. Sports Club made 107 for 4 wickets in 28 overs in their first innings at stumps at the end of day one. Harsh Kadam was batting on 46.
The second semi-final between Souvenir CC and Islam Gymkhana was evenly poised. Souvenir CC in their first innings were dismissed for 139 runs in 40 overs. Shiv Tripathi scored 39 runs while Abrar Shaikh 4 for 40 and Aditya Pandey 3 for 35 claimed the wickets. In reply Islam Gymkhana in their first innings reached 39 for 3 wickets in 11 overs at the end of day’s play.
