Youngsters Sparsh Pherwani and Sumehr Mago, played crucial roles as they won both their frames in leading Khar Gymkhana team KG ‘A’ to fluent victories in the both home and away ties against Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana team JVPG ‘Strugglers’ in the opening Section-D round-robin league match during the first week of the CCI Kekoo Nicholson BSAM Billiards League 2019.

Playing away first, KG ‘A’ (100 points combined handicap) comfortably defeated JVPG ‘Strugglers’ (225 handicap) 479-199 points. In the home encounter, KG ‘A’ stuck to their tried and trusted combination while Strugglers started with new faces Harvinder Nagi (+45), Sanjeev Shah (+70) and Rahil Patel (+65) but they, too, were unable to stop their rivals from snatching a 597-473 win. In the process KG ‘A’ also pocketed a bonus point for winning both the home and away ties and now has 5 points at the end of the first week.

Meanwhile, Cricket Club of India’s outfit, CCI ‘Prezmen’, who are the defending champions shared honours with Mandpeshwar Civic Foundation side MCF ‘Happygo Cueast’ in Section-A encounter. CCI ‘Prezmen’ won the home tie 557-480, but in the away match they lost 403-422 to the MCF team. Both, CCI and MCF earned two points each.
In another Section-A, encounter, MIG Club’s team MIG ‘Feathers’ won both their matches against NSCI ‘B’ in convincing fashion and also picked up a bonus point. In the home clash, MIG won by a 456-309 margin and in the away fixture they strolled to a 405-217 win.
